Content Guidelines for Premium Audio Tracks

NOTE
We are currently working on a new feature called "Premium Tracks". This feature is not yet available, but it will be ready in the upcoming weeks. Once the feature is completed, we will send an email notification to all teachers, inviting them to upload their Premium Tracks.

Premium Tracks are part of our MemberPlus subscription which unlocks access to all premium content to subscribers. Premium Tracks, along with Audio Courses, are exclusively available to our MemberPlus subscribers through the app, website, and shareable links. They are top-quality audio content like guided meditations, music tracks, talks, podcasts, or poems.

What is the difference between a Free and a Premium Track?

  • Free Tracks are available to anyone who can access them via our app, website, or a shareable link. Content guidelines and requirements for free tracks can be found here. We have the largest free meditation library on Earth, made of tens of thousands of free audio tracks such as guided meditations, talks, and music tracks.
  • Premium Tracks are studio-quality audio tracks available to our MemberPlus Subscribers, they require top-quality content, audio, music (if applicable), and imagery. We appreciate your commitment to delivering the best work possible to our premium subscribers. For reference, This is an example of a track with premium audio quality, music, and imagery: Love yourself meditation (Slow Down + Connect with your Human) by Darius Bashar.

Where can I upload Premium Tracks?

You will be able to upload MemberPlus Premium Tracks directly from your "Tracks" tab in your dashboard.

Is there a minimum number of tracks I can upload?

There is no minimum, the more frequently you would like to share content with our community, the better.

Can I delete or re-use Free Tracks and publish them as Premium?

In order to be mindful and considerate with current listeners and followers, we ask teachers to please not unpublish free tracks in order to re-uploaded them as premium tracks: this may upset users as they will not be able to listen to those tracks anymore.

We would like to kindly invite you to upload new high-quality content to enrich your current offering. This can be a great opportunity to provide your audience with fresh and valuable materials, and we are excited to see what you will create!

Can I have the same Free Track published also as a Premium Track?

If you have already published a track as a free version, it is not possible to also publish it as a premium version on the platform. Even if you make slight changes to the title, description, audio quality, or length of the track, it is not allowed to duplicate the same content. It is important that our premium subscribers see the value of getting access to unique content. We invite you to upload new high-quality content that will enrich your current offering.

Can I upload the lessons from my active Course as Premium Tracks?
No, you can either have those audios published together as a course or individually as premium tracks, but you can't have the same audio published twice on the platform.
Please reach out to publishers@insight.co if you would like to publish your Course's lessons as Premium Tracks so we can assist you in unpublishing your course.

REVENUE

Please read this article for more information on how we pay our teachers.

REQUIREMENTS

To be able to publish premium tracks you must have 2 free tracks published (free library).

As premium offerings, audio files for courses must be in mp3 format and studio quality. We strive to keep not only the content quality thoughtful and well-crafted but the audio quality as well as part of our promise to premium Member Plus users. And since premium tracks are paid products, typically users are also more discerning of the overall quality of content. Kindly ensure that there is little to no extra noise in your recordings like objects falling, dogs barking, people talking in the background, footsteps, and similar external sounds. This will also help your track get more plays, better ratings, and reviews.

  • Teacher Qualifications

Before recording a premium track, please make sure you have the relevant qualifications, accreditations, or expertise, where applicable, to support the topic you will be covering. Please upload all the relevant certificates or documentation to your Teacher Dashboard > Publisher profile > Accreditations.

  • Music

If adding background music to your track, please make sure you own the copyrights or you are using royalty-free music.

  • Image

Please make sure your selected image meets our Image Requirements.

  • Copyrights

We take issues with copyright very seriously. Before you upload anything onto the app, please read this article.

  • Disclaimers & Warnings

If your audio tackles sensitive and triggering topics like depression or eating disorders, we require that you place a “trigger warning” note at the beginning of the recording as well as the track description. It must also be emphasized that it is not a substitute for professional help and that there are no scientific claims.

Furthermore, reminders to exercise necessary caution and steps to ensure health and safety, like avoiding driving or operating heavy machinery, should also be included in the recording and the description when necessary.

  • No Promotion

Tracks must not contain any off-platform promotional content either written or within the audio content. This includes mention and links to products, services, websites, books, courses, social media, retreats, email newsletters, and other platforms, as well as contact details.

  • Prohibited Topics

To make sure that Insight Timer remains a place of refuge, we refrain from publishing tracks that deal with or contain any of the following topics:

  • Overtly sexual

Sexuality plays a huge role in achieving overall well-being. However, until we put appropriate filters for tracks that are sexual in nature, contain sexual references, have sexual undertones, and/or are sexually suggestive, we shall refrain from accepting such.

  • Hyper-Political, Hate Speech, & Explicit Language

Content that promotes or discredits specific organizations or movements will not be accepted. Topics like this may be divisive and polarizing to a general audience. We also do not tolerate hate speech or discrimination of any kind. Courses with explicit language may be accepted as long as it is within the context and not used profusely. A disclaimer/warning in the description is also required.

  • Any Form of Hypnosis

We believe hypnosis should be practiced only in a safe environment, preferably in a face-to-face setting with a trained practitioner.

  • Content Led by Children or Individuals Under the Age of 16

While we applaud and encourage starting a mindfulness practice at a young age, we’d like our resources to be provided by qualified teachers.

  • References to Use of Substances

We prohibit content that references, promotes, encourages, or implies the use of drugs, alcohol, or any state-altering substances.

  • Money-making Programs & Financial Services

We do not accept content that deals with, promotes, sells, or offers any financial services. This includes crypto-currencies, insurance, multi-level marketing, investment plans, wealth management, and others.

  • Suicide

Discussing the topic of suicide may be triggering to some of our more vulnerable users. Therefore, until measures that will safeguard user well-being and safety are in place, we will not be accepting such content.

We reserve the right to reject any tracks that do not meet any of the above requirements.

As a teacher, you can edit or remove your material at any time. Please contact publishers@insight.co for support.
