Insight Timer Retreats Quality Standards and Guidelines

At Insight Timer, we're excited to support our Teachers in promoting their transformative in-person, multi-day retreat experiences to our community.


This document details the standards and guidelines that teachers, venues, and listings must meet to be published on our platform. 


For the initial launch, we will be focusing on Retreats that meet the following criteria:

  • Starts no earlier than December 2024
  • It is a multi-day, in-person retreat at a single venue
  • Overnight accommodation is included


We recognize the value of having a range of choices and want to reassure you that we will introduce more varied options in the future.


Teacher Requirements


Experience: Teachers need to provide evidence of successfully hosting a multi-day retreat in the past, showing they have the skills to lead and host their retreats. 


Accreditation: Teachers must provide the relevant accreditations for the type of retreat they are running, such as yoga, or meditation certifications from reputable organizations. These accreditation documents should be uploaded to the "Teacher Profile" section within the teacher dashboard for verification.


In-person: Retreats should provide a fully in-person experience.


Best price guarantee: The price should not be higher than that offered on any other websites.


Venue Requirements


Location: The venue must be suitable for the type of retreat being offered, providing a safe, serene, and appropriate environment for either yoga, meditation, or other well-being practices.


Accommodation: Rooms should be comfortable and private and meet basic amenity standards.


Facilities: Appropriate spaces for retreat activities, including yoga studios, meditation halls, and dining areas that provide accessible access as required.


Health and Safety: Compliance with local health and safety regulations, including cleanliness, food safety, and emergency procedures.



Listing Guidelines


Type of Event: Initially, we will promote multi-day, in-person retreats hosted at a single location and include overnight stays. 


Image Requirements & Guidelines

Please provide authentic photographs that reflect and showcase your retreat, including the venue, accommodations, meals, and activities. Authentic imagery helps to create a transparent and inviting preview of the experience you're offering, building trust with potential attendees.

Please refrain from using stock or AI-generated images.


Accommodation images

Please obtain high-resolution images of the accommodation from the venue to prevent listing rejections and publishing delays.


Image size

Your retreat listing’s accompanying images must be in high resolution (not blurry), at least 1200x1200 pixels, and have a maximum file size of 20 MB. Images must be croppable into square, landscape, and portrait. If you experience issues with your image size, you can use this tool to resize it.


Filters and colors

Images should not be in black & white. They should also not have all-black or all-white backgrounds. Preferably use natural light and colors. Please refrain from using unnatural-looking filters.


No logos, text, frames, or collages

Images should not have logos, text, or any other overlay. 'Logos' encompasses graphics, clipart, and additional elements like frames or overlays not original to the photo. 'Text' includes timestamps, hand-lettering, fonts, and photos containing letters or numbers, such as prints on t-shirts, signage, wall writings, etc.


No depiction of violence or nudity 

Images should be uplifting and inspirational. They must not be sexually suggestive or contain any form of nudity, whether implicit or explicit. Additionally, images cannot depict violence. 


If the image(s) submitted for your retreat does not adhere to our requirements, we reserve the right to request changes or temporarily withhold the retreat listing until these standards are met.


Topics: We kindly ask you to make sure the themes you will be covering are aligned with your expertise and in harmony with our community and content guidelines. Please avoid topics that may involve sexual content not aligned with our guidelines, mind-altering, divisive political issues, suicide, any form of discrimination, or unnecessary explicit language. We also ask that your retreats not include or promote the use of mind-altering substances or financial ventures. Thank you for helping us cultivate a safe and welcoming space for personal and collective transformation.


Transparency: When listing your retreat, it's important to provide a clear and comprehensive description that includes accurate details about the venue, program, sessions, accommodations, meals, and atmosphere. Be transparent about participants' requirements and what they can expect in terms of activities, dates, schedules, pricing, and any inclusions and exclusions. Your narrative should reflect the authentic experience, setting realistic expectations and building trust with potential attendees. We encourage you to share your retreat's story with sincerity and enthusiasm, helping our community to make informed decisions with a true sense of what awaits them.


Price: When setting the prices for your retreat, please ensure that it is not higher than those offered on other platforms or through your channels. Upholding this consistency is crucial for maintaining trust and transparency with our community members who may be considering your retreat. 


Updates: Prompt updates to the listings are required for any changes in retreat details to ensure ongoing accuracy and reliability for potential attendees.


Quality Assurance & Review Process

Review Process: Our dedicated team will review each retreat listing to confirm it adheres to our quality standards and contains all necessary information. This careful review process is conducted before any retreat is made available online and can take up to 5 business days.


Guideline Adherence: We are committed to providing a platform that upholds integrity and quality. Therefore, any listing that does not comply with our established guidelines will not be published.
