Sending Messages to Community Members
You can send free-form messages to other community members on Insight Timer, but to do so, you'll need to connect with them first as friends. This helps create a respectful and intentional community where our 30 million members can engage meaningfully with each other.
How to Send Messages to a Community Member
Follow these steps to connect with someone and start messaging:
- Open the profile of the community member you'd like to message.
- Tap Add Friend.
- Once they accept your request, you can start messaging each other and have free-form conversations.
Keep in mind that some community members may have disabled Friend Requests in their privacy settings, which prevents others from adding them as friends. If you can't find the Add Friend option, that's why.
Managing Your Friend Request Settings
You have control over whether other community members can send you friend requests. This is a privacy feature that lets you decide how open you want to be to new connections on the platform. Here's how to manage this setting:
- Open the Insight Timer app.
- Tap the menu icon (≡) in the top-left corner.
- Tap Settings.
- Select Account & Privacy.
- Tap Friend Requests under the Privacy section.
- Toggle the feature on or off to allow or disable incoming friend requests.
When the Friend Requests setting is enabled, other community members can send you friend requests and exchange messages once you're both connected. When disabled, no one can add you as a friend on the platform.
