How Do I AirPlay Video or Audio From the Insight Timer App?

Stream Insight Timer to Your TV or Speaker with AirPlay

AirPlay makes it easy to stream Insight Timer content directly to your Apple TV, HomePod, smart TV, or any speaker or screen that supports AirPlay. This works for guided meditations, sleep, music, and videos. Here’s how to get started in just a few steps.

Before You Begin

Make sure your iPhone or iPad and your AirPlay-compatible device (such as an Apple TV, HomePod, or AirPlay-enabled smart TV or speaker) are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. AirPlay won’t be able to detect your device if they’re on different networks.

How to AirPlay From the Insight Timer App

  1. Open the Insight Timer app on your iPhone or iPad and start playing the video or audio content you'd like to stream.
  2. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open the Control Center.
  3. In the Control Center, look for the media playback section — it shows what's currently playing. Tap the AirPlay icon, which looks like a rectangle with a small triangle at the bottom. This is usually super easy to find right within the media controls.
  4. A list of available AirPlay devices on your Wi-Fi network will appear. Tap the device you'd like to stream to — for example, your Apple TV, HomePod, or AirPlay-enabled speaker.
  5. Playback will switch to your selected device within a few seconds. You can continue controlling the audio or video from within the Insight Timer app or directly from the Control Center.
  6. To stop AirPlay and return playback to your iPhone or iPad, open the Control Center again, tap the AirPlay icon, and select your iPhone or iPad from the list.

A Few Helpful Tips

Volume can be adjusted either from your iPhone or directly on the receiving device. If your AirPlay device doesn't appear in the list, try toggling Wi-Fi off and back on, or restarting the AirPlay device. For the best experience — especially with longer sleep tracks or video content — make sure your device is plugged in or has sufficient battery before you begin.
